Just off the top of my head, perhaps it’s an attempt to build the community — “hey, you and this other person highlighted this, here’s something you can talk about” or “here’s something to further solidify your relationship here.” Yeah it’s a little silly but I can also see how it may be affirming to see that someone else agrees with you on the importance/relevance of that particular sentence. Just a guess!
