Before my husband and I got married, an 84-year-old woman at my church came to one of my wedding showers and left me a note in a card, along with a gift. I don’t remember what the gift was, but I remember the gift of her words: “Remember, you don’t always have to be right.” I have clung to that phrase when I wanted to lash out or get the last word in, or even just to say “I told you so!” It has saved me so much heartache.
